WHY DO SOME PARENTS REFUSE VACCINATION❓

❗️By the 1990s, the movements to protect children's rights led young parents to doubt whether such vaccination has any benefits.

?At the same time, the development of science, including immunology, and the lack of medical education complicated the task of healthcare workers, who were now obliged to prove the safety of vaccination to anxious parents.

?Parents seeking information about the safety of vaccines may come across reports of serious adverse events, still unknown, occurring after the use of a vaccine.

?Some parents may worry that there are too many vaccines. Parents may become anxious seeking answers to questions such as whether each of these vaccines is necessary, whether vaccinating with several vaccines at once is harmless, whether vaccines contain potentially harmful components, or how effective each vaccine is.

?Nowadays parents may not have seen with their own eyes the infectious diseases that can be prevented by vaccines. Therefore they may have doubts about the benefits of vaccines and may believe that the risks of vaccination outweigh the benefits of protection from these infectious diseases.

?Parents are often troubled by possible reactions to vaccines or side effects after vaccination. A rise in temperature after a vaccine, redness at the injection site or other local reactions are especially frightening. Sometimes cases such as the child behaving unusually after vaccination worry them, and this is considered normal. But all of these worries are unfounded.

?"Today there is no evidence that receiving all the recommended vaccinations is dangerous. Every time you delay vaccination, you increase your child's risk of falling ill," WHO emphasizes.

❗️ATTENTION. Almost everyone can be vaccinated. However, for people with certain diseases and conditions, some vaccinations are prohibited or postponed to a later date. These diseases and conditions include the following:

1⃣chronic diseases or treatments that weaken the immune system (for example, chemotherapy);

2⃣acute and life-threatening allergic reactions to components of vaccines (but this is very rare);

3⃣a severe illness coinciding with the time of vaccination. Nevertheless, such children should be vaccinated as soon as they recover. Moderate weakness or a subfebrile temperature (not exceeding 37 degrees, close to normal) is not included among the conditions in which vaccination is impossible.
